TAC (docetaxel, doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide)
If you have TAC, you'll have four to six cycles of treatment, and each cycle is given once every three weeks. So that's a total of three to four months.
on day 1 of each cycle. you'll be given docetaxel, doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide by drip and injection. This will be repeated at the start of your next cycle, three weeks later.
TAC includes doxorubicin - one of a group of drugs called anthracyclines. There is evidence that chemotherapy which includes an anthracycline works better than CMF but anthracyclines tend to have more severe side effects.
A lot can be done to help relieve these problems, see Dealing with chemotherapy side effects.
