Breast screening and breast awareness on ITV's This Morning
To mark the 20th anniversary of the NHS Breast Screening programme and to encourage more women to attend their breast screening appointments, This Morning featured a report from a mobile breast screening unit on their programme on Wednesday 12 March. As part of the report, a volunteer demonstrated what to expect when you go for a breast screening appointment.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer encourages all women aged 50-70 to attend their NHS breast screening appointments when invited. Women over 70 will not receive an invitation from the NHS, but are still eligible for free NHS breast screening and should make their own appointments via their GP or screening unit.
Breakthrough also encourages women of all ages to be breast aware by showing their breasts some TLC, which means touching and looking for any changes and checking anything unusual with your doctor.
