Having graduated from Manchester University and Manchester Business School, Judy began her career in the food industry with Rank Hovis McDougall where she held marketing and commercial director positions with responsibility for a range of famous household brands. Switching to financial services she was Director of Marketing with the Halifax Building Society at a time of significant change prior to its public flotation.

Her interest in leadership and the development of talent in organisations led to a move into executive search initially with Whitehead Mann where she worked on board appointments in the consumer and financial services sectors. She led the northern office based in Leeds through a period of sustained growth before leaving in 2004 to become co-founder of the Orcid Partnership where she heads the Board Practice working on appointments in the private and not-for-profit sectors. Her other interests have included being a University Governor and non-executive director of a quoted company.

She is currently a trustee of York Museums Trust and lives in York. Judy was inspired to join Breakthrough in 1997 following a personal scare and has remained passionate about Breakthrough’s vital work through meeting the charity’s wonderful supporters and witnessing a close friend’s battle with this dreadful disease.
