Breast reconstruction
This an operation that uses a breast implant or tissue from elsewhere in your body to create a new breast that looks as much like your other breast as possible.
You may be able to have it done at the same time as a mastectomy, or later on. You could also have breast reconstruction if you have extensive wide local excision, or lumpectomy surgery. Ask your surgeon for advice about this procedure and to help you decide if it’s right for you.
Breast Prostheses
>Prostheses are artificial breast forms which you can wear inside your bra. You can also have a prosthetic silicone nipple which sticks on your breast. This means that when you’re dressed, you look the same as before your mastectomy.
