M&S sells more bras on the high street than any other retailer

Which is why in 2005, the then Chief Executive Sir Stuart Rose (now Executive Chairman) received a letter from a woman bemoaning the poor choice of lingerie available to women after surgery for breast cancer. The writer of the letter wasn't alone. A growing number of women felt that the choice of post-surgery bras available at that time simply wasn't sexy, feminine or comfortable enough.

Sir Stuart challenged the M&S lingerie design team to come up with a suitable range and Breakthrough recruited some of its CAN (Campaigns & Advocacy Network) members to trial and comment on the designs. Together they fashioned a range of bras that are attractive and confidence-inspiring and in 2006, M&S became the first high street retailer to launch its own brand of post-surgery lingerie. Today, the range - and fitting advice - is available in nearly 30 stores across the UK.

You can also buy items online from the M&S website. New launches every season ensure that the M&S post-surgery range stays in fashion while regular focus groups with CAN members enable M&S to continually improve the product.
