Become a Patient Interviewer

Are you a good listener? Are you interested in other ways you can add your voice to shape the future of breast cancer services? If so, we’re looking for volunteers to help Breakthrough interview patients about their experience of breast cancer services as part of our Service Pledge for Breast Cancer.

We estimate the Service Pledge has had an impact on the lives of 20,000 patients so far – however there is still more we can do. Thank you to all the CAN members who this year helped us to launch the Service Pledge for Breast Cancer at 25 hospital sites across the country bringing our total Service Pledge hospital sites up to 45 so far. During 2012 we will be widening the reach by working with a further 15 sites to shape the lives of more patients. We can’t do this without you. It is vital that patients are comfortable when they share their experiences and opinions of the hospital’s services, as these inform the improvements to the service that the hospital pledges to make. Our valuable CAN members have a crucial role to play in this and we’re looking for up to 30 CAN members to train to become Patient Interviewers next year.

To fine tune your skills to become a patient interviewer, we will be running a one day training session in May 2012 for successful applicants. Patient Interviews will be taking place from June 2012. Dates of interviews will be confirmed nearer the time in liaison with the hospital and the selected patient interviewer.
