When you have raised your £1,000 we hope you'll come to one of our research sites to meet the scientists and hear how they will be using the money you have raised to tackle breast cancer.

You will also be invited to nominate a name to appear on one of our Challengers' Walls, which feature at our research sites. This could be your name or the name of someone else who has inspired you. It can be a celebration of survival, commemoration of someone you've lost or a 'thank you' to someone for their support. Their name will stand as permanent recognition of all those who have been affected by breast cancer and as a reminder of your contribution to our vital research. We unveil a new Challengers' Wall approximately every two years and you will be invited to the unveiling.

Why support Breakthrough Breast Cancer research?

Imagine.

A woman finds a lump and goes to her GP. Before the week is out she is diagnosed with breast cancer.

Doctors identify the exact type of breast cancer and prescribe a precisely targeted treatment to knock it out without any toxic side effects.

She doesn't feel sick or exhausted. Her hair doesn't fall out. She doesn't have to avoid people with coughs and colds. She doesn't despair.

Instead, she can go about life as normal, feeling well, knowing that the treatment is going to make the breast cancer go away. And stay way – sometimes with the help of a few drugs over time.

Imagine that. Breakthrough Breast Cancer scientists believe this could be the reality for some types of breast cancer within about ten years.

"Raising this money is a great achievement and I'm proud to see my mum honoured on the Challengers' Wall. Just to see it there, it's really hard to describe how you feel."

"When I used to go to the hospital with my mum you would only see the doctors, but you're never able to see the research that goes on behind closed doors. Here it's real work, it's real people doing everything they can to find a cure for breast cancer. And wow, my money is going towards this work."
