Before Your Walk

  • Create your own posters and flyers to display locally, in shops, sports halls, libraries or hairdressers
  • Use our sample press release (176 kb) [doc] to send to your local newspaper and radio station - you could even ask them along on the day
  • Take advantage of our free Step Out PR Toolkit (176 kb) [doc] to help spread the world locally
  • Photocopy the sponsorship form, give copies to your walkers and ask them to invite their friends along too
  • Approach local clubs or groups in your area, for example mother and toddler or slimming groups and ask them to join you on your walk
  • Ask local companies to get involved - they could take part and also sponsor your walk or even perhaps provide refreshments free of charge!
  • Try to get a mention in your parish newsletter, or an inclusion in mailings that your local council or estate agents might be doing to your area.
  • Create a Facebook event and invite people to attend, or start your own Twitter feed with updates about your walk
  • Contact us and we can add your walk to our online Walk Finder

On the Day

Take plenty of photos, encouraging fellow walkers to do the same. We can show them off in our gallery, or your local paper may be happy to publish them and say how much you have raised for us.
