1. Decide on an activity

If you haven’t already, decide on your fundraising activities. To have a look through our fundraising ideas, please click here. Remember, you don’t need to limit yourself to just one activity and selling your pink ribbon pins is a great way to boost your fundraising targets. If you’re stuck, why not put several ideas up for vote by your staff and customers? For even more ideas, visit Facebook and Twitter to find out what others are planning.

2. Organise

First thing first, decide on a time and date. Although Breast Cancer Awareness month is October, there is no hard and fast rule that you have to do your fundraising during that month. If you want to be proactive go ahead and start in September!

If you are organising an event outside of the salon, discuss getting discounts on venue prices. If you explain that you are raising money for a charity, many venues will offer their services for free.

If you are holding a sponsored event, download our sponsorship form here and start getting your first sponsors. If you like to keep things online, why not set up a JustGiving page? Go to http://www.justgiving.com/breakthrough

Start thinking about what else you need to arrange – do you need to ask your staff to refine their baking skills? Do you need to stock up on pink hair dye? Maybe you need to be in training for a sporty activity?

Breakthrough has a limited number of T-shirts made specifically for ghd salons that are fundraising – to get your hands on some, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. First come first served.

3. Shout about it!

It’s so important to let everyone know what you are doing to support Breakthrough. Your first stop is to download our specially designed Posters and Invitations. Next, use your social networks to spread the word – our Facebook and Twitter sites are great places to talk about your fundraising, and it is bound to inspire others to do the same too!

The best way to get PR for your salon is by using the template press release (available to download here) and sending it to your local press contacts (ideally two weeks before an event). Also, ask if any local papers would like to come along to your fundraising event to take photos.

4. Do it

The plans are in place, you’ve advertised everywhere, you’ve tweeted, ‘liked’ and sent as many invitations as possible – the only thing left to do is host your fundraiser! Don’t forget to promote the sales of your pink stylers and to sell your pink ribbon pins at the same time.

Please do take lots of photos of your activities and email them through to us after using the email address below. We will try to post as many as possible on this website and our Facebook page, and you may even appear in future fundraising guides.

5. Pay in your money

Once you have finished your fundraising please thank everyone involved and let them know how much was raised. You can bank your money in a number of ways – please find more details on our ‘After your event’ page.
