Glossary Term

A control in research terms is someone who is very similar to a person taking part in a clinical trial, but who doesn't participate, or uses the normal version of a treatment rather than the version being tested. They are used to check that it is not anything other than the subject of the clinical trial that is producing any good or bad affects.
