We are a totally voluntary group of like minded people who want to see a future free from the fear of breast cancer. We all have full time jobs, but strive in our spare time to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and development of treatments. We hold Monthly meetings where we sit and chat about events we are planning, it’s a great way to exchange ideas and contacts. Our meetings are very informal and usually involve cake…….If you think you would be interested in coming along, please contact us.
The members noted below is not an exhaustive list. There are many helpers who step into help at our events without whom our events would not run.
Val Whyborn
Started to support Breakthrough by participating in Moonwalk in 2000. Signed up for The Generations Study in 2005.
“My Mum battled with Breast Cancer for 13 years during which time she showed such outstanding bravery, courage and optimism. Over the years I have also met many other ladies of all ages and walks of life who have this disease and have seen the damage it does to sufferers and their friends and families. During our first Moonwalk I found out more about Breakthrough and the fantastic work they do and pledged that I would continue to support this worthy charity in whatever way I could.”

Started helping in 2001, when he wore a bra and joined the 13 mile Moonwalk in London.
“I've seen the suffering that Cancer causes, both first hand and through friends and find that the events we organise are a great way to raise awareness as well as funds. Every little will help to find a cure. Even though Breakthoughs main areas of research is Breast Cancer, their research still benefits other cancer charities as well ”

"I really enjoy helping Val and Hayley with the walk and it's for a great charity. A cheese roll and a nice cup of tea after the 5 miles is great bonus!"

Catriona Shipp
Joined in the first walk in 2003, has been on every once since as a helper and loves to get involved throughout the year. Also taking part in The Generations Study.
''I have always supported women's cancer charities, it's even sadder when I lost my mum to it in 2002 - 51 is too young to die! I also discovered last year that I have a cousin now being treated. I joined the first walk and ever since I have become more involved with the charity. Val, Hayley & Sam need all the help they can get with doing this great work''

Fiona Shea
Joined the team in 2005 at the Barrington Crocus Walk, a great asset to the team.
“I enjoy the walks as they are always interesting routes and it is for a good cause. I like to help out with the raffle, as it is such a busy day to organise, anything I can do to take the pressure of Hayley and Val is never too much trouble”

Jo Honey
Jo took part in the Crocus Walk in 2009 and decided to start helping in January 2010 so she could make more of a contribution to a worthy charity.
“I have seen first hand the devastation that cancer can cause and if I can help minimise this in any way then I believe that the effort will have been worthwhile. I also enjoy getting involved in event organisation so if I can have fun on the way then this is a bonus!”
