Annual Groups Workshop 2010
Enthusiasm and Inspiration boosted by visit to the big smoke.
Val Whyborn, Group ChairmanEvery year we come away from these workshops feeling full of energy and with plenty of ideas for future events. It is always lovely to hear from the Breakthrough team, especially on how our money is helping with the vision of a future free from the fear of breast cancer.
In February group chairman and treasurer attending the annual workshop at Breakthrough Breast Cancers head office in London to meet other groups and be updated on recent news involving breast cancer.
Change for Change
While at the workshop they had the chance to catch up with Gerald White (thecharitycoinman@hotmail.co.uk) who runs and organises the "Change for Change" scheme involving Marks and Spencers (converting unwanted and old currency into cash for Breakthrough Breast Cancer). The group are involved in this scheme and regularly collect money parcels from the Cambridge Store. The scheme is growing each year as the following figures confirm and Gerry is confident of smashing the £100,000 barrier in the early part of this year.
April 2007
Pilot scheme involving 38 stores raised £4098.00
2008
The balance of stores joined the scheme (108) and raised £38403. The Cambridge store contributed £171.19.
2009
Raised £44776, the Cambridge store contributed £741.15.
2010 to date of workshop brings the grand total to £ 90,840 !!
