Meg McArthur, Senior Policy Officer at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said:

"We know that regular exercise can help reduce the risk of breast cancer, although we can't yet say for sure what type of activity you should do or how often you should exercise. Any kind of exercise at any age will be beneficial to your health as we know that regular exercise can also help prevent weight gain and obesity, both of which are known to increase breast cancer risk.

"Breakthrough encourages all women to lead a healthy lifestyle by maintaining a healthy weight, taking regular exercise and limiting alcohol intake."
