Breakthrough Breast Cancer comments on the news of Martina Navaratilova's breast cancer diagnosis.

Dr Alexis Willett, Head of Policy at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said:

“Our thoughts go out to Martina Navratilova after her breast cancer diagnosis and we wish her well. Many women know what she is going through as nearly 46,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

“Martina’s cancer was found through breast screening which shows once again the importance of this service. We encourage all women to attend their screening appointments when invited.”
