Working under the alias MM, his exhibition is called Lepidop Terror and goes on display at the renowned I.N.C. Space, Covent Garden, London. The exhibition will run from 15-26 September and show his large scale paintings as part of a sensory, immersive experience.
All the proceeds from one of the paintings, Godiva, will go to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity.
MM says: “I have been incredibly fortunate in my life and as I embark on a new artistic adventure I wanted to give it added meaning. Therefore, it was logical to give to charity so these paintings could be imbued with a philanthropic spirit. Breakthrough Breast Cancer has changed the landscape for women affected by the disease and I am proud my art will help to continue this lifesaving progress.”
The Prodigy were the defining band of the rave era with hits such as Out of Space and Voodoo People. They went on to become one of the biggest acts in the world with the Fat of the Land album in 1997, producing all-conquering anthems such as Firestarter. They remain a raw and visceral live act playing huge festivals and stadiums around the world.
MM’s art has been hailed by art critic Francesca Gavin as encapsulating “the dark fantasy landscape of fairy tales and ghostly wars.”
MM adds: “I feel a sense of freedom when I paint. There are no restrictions and you can let your imagination run wild. I now see everything: music, art, fashion…they are all about creativity.”
Becky Crowe, Community Fundraising Manager at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said: “We are thrilled MM is supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer during his debut art exhibition. We would encourage art lovers to gain a wonderful new addition to their collection and help to save lives by buying ‘Godiva’. The money donated really does make a difference.”
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK and nearly 1,000 women die of the disease each month. Breakthrough Breast Cancer is leading the fight against the disease by developing new treatments, raising awareness and campaigning for better services for patients.
