I am very fit; I do yoga four times a week; I eat a healthy diet and I always check my breasts. I do it when I'm in the shower, when you're all soapy it's the easiest thing to do!

My own mother died of lung cancer and my father has survived bowel cancer, which has totally changed my outlook on life and made me realise that it's important to be health conscious.

When it comes to your breasts, nobody knows them better than you, which is why it is so important that you know what they look and feel like normally and if you notice something unusual, go see your GP. And, if you're 50 or over, you should keep your breast screening appointment when invited. Don't put it off - it could save your life.

As for helping others, there's thousands of ways you can get involved. Breakthrough Breast Cancer is great charity - whole-heartedly committed to fighting breast cancer thorough research and awareness. Its £1,000 Challenge is an easy way to get involved, and as its Patron, I'd encourage you all to take it up. It has already raised millions of pounds for Breakthrough's work, which they hope will one day create a future free from the fear of breast cancer. Something we'd all like to see.
