Breakthrough Breast Cancer has responded to a study featured in today's national newspapers which claims that there is a link between larger breast size and an increased risk of developing the disease.

Dr Rachel Greig, Senior Policy Officer at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, says:

“Women shouldn’t be worried about this research. There is no good scientific evidence to suggest a link between larger breasts and an increased breast cancer risk. This study did not directly link breast cancer incidence and breast size so the findings may not be fully accurate.

"There is no one single cause of breast cancer; instead it’s a combination of genetic, lifestyle and environmental factors. This is why the Breakthrough Generations Study is following over 100,000 women over 40 years to try and determine the causes of the disease."
