Anita Grigoriadis began her scientific education at the Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna, Austria as a molecular biologist and did her PhD in London at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. After a break to have two children, Anita returned to the Ludwig Institute in 2002 as a computational biologist working in the microarray breast cancer field. During this time, Anita became affiliated with the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre at the Institute of Cancer Research, specifically with the microarray facility laboratory. While Anita’s work has mainly focused on the analysis of gene expression based on the normal and malignant breast epithelium, she has also contributed to several collaborative studies at the Research Centre, identifying new targets and biomarkers for breast cancer.  She also holds a guest lectureship at Birkbeck College, UCL.

In September 2008, Anita joined the new Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Unit at King’s College London as a Research Fellow in Breast Cancer Bioinformatics under the direction of Dr Andrew Tutt.  Participating as an affiliate in the stimulating and enthusiastic scientific environment at the Research Centre, Anita felt very honoured to be part of establishing a new Breakthrough Unit in London to further elucidate the causes of a very aggressive form of breast cancer.

“As a Breakthrough Breast Cancer scientist, I share the ethos of forming collaborative studies in order to carry out multidisciplinary research so that we will progress faster and more efficiently in our knowledge of breast cancer".
