The spring edition of Purple Online
Welcome to the spring 2009 edition of Purple online.
We are making great progress in expanding our network across the UK, with the opening of our new office in Scotland. To add to this significant milestone, we have also opened the second of our three new breast cancer research units at King’s College London, based at Guy’s Hospital. Click here to read more.
Crocus Walks are great way to get out and about with friends or family. You don’t have to be a serious walker to take part – you can even choose the distance you would like to walk. In My Story we interview Zoe Image, a committed Crocus Walker. Zoe has survived breast cancer and, in support of Breakthrough, she has held a Crocus Walk every year since 2000. Read more about her story here.
A number of supporters have recently drawn our attention to door-to -door clothing collections that purport to help breast cancer causes in Eastern Europe. Breakthrough has no involvement with these and does not benefit from them. The collections do not break the law, but if you want to be sure that the sale of your unwanted goods benefits a charity you support, we suggest you take them to a local charity shop.
Breakthrough is a charity that relies on you, our supporters. Without your amazing fundraising efforts we wouldn’t be able to continue with our groundbreaking research, campaigning and education work. However, in order to continue with this pioneering work, we need your continued support. To find out how you can donate to Breakthrough, please visit www.breakthrough.org.uk/donate – your contribution is vital if we are to fulfill our vision of a future free from the fear of breast cancer.
All the best,
Ned, Editor
