A great day out at the Crocus Party 2008

Over the last year our £1,000 Challengers have achieved incredible fundraising results and are on target to raise an astonishing £900,000 for Breakthrough. So to celebrate their fantastic successes Breakthrough held its annual Crocus Party.

Breakthrough staff with £1,000 Challengers

In April one hundred of our £1,000 Challengers, including both those who have recently hit their target as well as long-standing Challengers, gathered alongside several of our Group members at Axis Restaurant in London. There they met with Breakthrough scientists, trustees and staff at a champagne thank-you reception.

The Crocus Party was a wonderful opportunity for our Challengers and Groups to speak directly with our scientists and trustees, and to discover firsthand how integral their fundraising is to the future of Breakthrough. The party also gave our fundraisers a chance to swap ideas for successful fundraising events and to share their stories as to why they support Breakthrough.

During the Crocus Party inspirational speeches were given by Jeremy Hughes, Dr Chris Lord (a scientist in the Gene Function Team at the Research Centre) and Gaby Roslin. On leaving the party, many Challengers and Group members commented on how the day had left them feeling incredibly motivated to continue fundraising for Breakthrough.
