Why Breakthrough
My family has been greatly affected by breast cancer. I come from a big family; my Dad had 7 sisters and 2 brothers. Unfortunately, two of his sisters passed away after contracting breast cancer during middle age. His mother also died after contracting the disease. My mum also lost a cousin at 37 years old to this tragic disease. These events have led to two of my aunts undergoing precautionary mastectomies in order to reduce their risk and all my female cousins regularly go for check ups! It's for this reason that I'm running for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. I want the money I raise to help fund the research and development of cures that may be needed to help my relatives in future.
A big achievement
I started my marathon training weighing 27st 1lb. By race day I hope to weigh 14 stone and be fitter than I have ever been! It's my dream to make 2010 a year to remember by completing the Virgin London Marathon less than a year after tipping the scales at over 27st.
