I started supporting Breakthrough in 2009 when I became a payroll giver, I chose Breakthrough because the charity means a lot to me and my family. My aunty sadly passed away in 2009 after her battle with breast cancer, it was at that point I became aware of Breakthrough and the work they do. After seeing the affects of breast cancer there is nothing more in this world that I want than a cure... not just for breast cancer but, for all types of cancer.

I wanted to do the London Marathon to make my family and my aunty proud. I am on the larger side so this is quite a challenge for me, but, knowing what I am running for keeps me motivated. The marathon will change my life for the better, I'll be getting healthier, fitter and raising money for a good cause. The support I have already received from Breakthrough, family and friends is absolutely amazing. I never imagined that I would get a ballot place for the marathon and I will definitely be giving it my all. I am proud to be a part of team Breakthrough and I cannot wait to be at the finishing line with the other runners celebrating our success!

The fundraising has already started for me, I have set up my Virgin Money Giving page and have got a couple of donations already. My fundraising target is £500 but I am hoping to raise a lot more! I have posted my fundraising page on social networking sites and my blog website in the hope that I can inspire people to donate. I am also planning to do a car-boot sale nearer to Christmas and donate 100% of the money to Breakthrough.

If you would like to donate on my page to help me hit the £500 target please visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/LaurenArcher I really appreciate everything.

See you at the marathon,
Lauren Archer x
