Running

It all started in 2004 when my partner decided, rather sensibly, to give me a pair of trainers for Valentines day...the results and memories have been far more lasting than a pot plant or a box of chocs!

Over the years I have run numerous races, of varying distances and at various paces. I have run the London marathon twice: in 2007 I felt as fresh as a daisy and finished it in 5:33; in 2008 I trained with shin splints (naughty, naughty) and hobbled my way round in 5:37. I love running and being a Mum of two boys aged 10 and 8 it is a perfect way to unwind and, of course, keep fit!

2010 will be my third London Marathon, but this one is personal.

Why Breakthrough

In September 2009 my precious Auntie Elizabeth passed away - she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and was just 69. The laughter maker, the party planner, the fancy dress creator extraordinaire, she had a wonderful joie de vivre, and as a family we all miss her dreadfully. She died on the day I ran my 3rd Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon, a race she had come to see me run in 2006 and 2007. She was a keen supporter of my running, always wanting to know about the races I had lined up, so it seems so fitting to run the 2010 Virgin London Marathon in her memory, and in doing so I hope to raise as much money as I can for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
