This year I am entered for, and aiming to complete, three marathons in six weeks with a view to raising funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Breakthrough is a charity close to my heart, as my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. As a family we witnessed first hand the debilitating effects of the treatments, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, sickness, loss of hair etc. To see someone you love battling such an illness is tough for anyone. Fortunately Mum is now five years clear which is great, however there are so many others who are battling with this disease and so I have been running for Breakthrough since 2008 to raise money to help anyone affected.

Last year I ran the following for Breakthrough raising approximately £2000:

Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon

Virgin London Marathon

Dublin Marathon

This year I thought I’d like to extend the challenge and will be running the following races with the aim to raise at least a minimum of £2800:

Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon – 6th March

Brighton Marathon – 10th April

London Marathon – 17th April

Edinburgh Marathon – 22nd May

Running three marathons in six weeks is going to be a huge challenge both mentally and physically but I am hoping that by putting my body on the line in this way I will be able to raise even more money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and with the other runners who support this charity, hopefully be able to help many more people directly affected by this illness.
