Steps to Securing your place

 1. Apply for a ballot place

The ballot for The ING New York City Marathon 2011 is now open. Enter the ballot by visiting the event website. The ballot will close on 19 April 2011 and you will find out whether you have been chosen soon after.

2. Let us know!

If you are successful in securing a ballot place please let us know. We will then welcome you straight onto the team.

If you are unsuccessful you will need to book a package through one of our travel partners. Unfortunately, UK charities are unable to offer runners places in the NY Marathon.

To guarantee your place in this fantastic event sign up for a travel package either with Sports Tours International or 209 Events.

You can choose one of three package options:

1.      Flights, accommodation and race entry  

2.      Flight and race entry

3.      Accommodation and race entry

You can find details of these packages on the Sports Tours International website or 209 Events Website.

If you decide on a Sports Tours package, download the application form and return it to the specified address along with your deposit and entry fee.  

If you decide on a 209 package simply apply online.

Once your place is confirmed with one of our recommended tour operators, please let us know by emailing The Running Team or calling us on 020 7025 2422 and we will send you a full welcome pack.

Fundraising

In order to help you as much as possible, part of your travel / accommodation costs will be refunded by Breakthrough if you manage to achieve certain fundraising targets.

If you raise over £1500 we will refund you £200 to put towards your travel costs. If you raise over £2000 we will refund you £500 to put towards your travel costs. So the more you raise for us, the cheaper it becomes for you!

In order to become eligible for a refund, you must contact us with your full name and address, DOB, contact number and email address, to let us know that you are running on our behalf. In order to claim a refund, you will need to return a refund request form (provided) to the charity by the 10 December 2010. It is important to note that no refunds will be processed after this date. We will also require proof of your expenditure in the form of an invoice from your tour operator. We are not able to refund more than £1,000 to any participant.
