Scottish Election Result and Breakthrough's E-Campaign
The election has taken place and the people of Scotland have had their say. For the very first time in the life of the Scottish Parliament one party- The SNP- has a clear majority. The results are as follows: Scottish National Party 69, Labour 37, Scottish Conservatives 15, Scottish Liberal Democrats 5 and Scottish Greens 2.
This result means that things will move much quicker than before in the new Parliament and all legislation will be passed. In relation to breast cancer the Scottish National Party made a manifesto commitment to a Detect Cancer Earlier Initiative. This is to have a target to increase the number of cancers detected at an early stage by 25%.
Thank you to all of the campaigners who took part in our e-campaign. Breast cancer was indeed at the top of the agenda this election and of all the candidates who signed Breakthrough’s pledge 21 were elected.
