Support Mike's Marvels 2012

Professor Dixon, Clinical Lead of Breakthrough’s Research Unit in Edinburgh, is running in the relay to raise vital funds for Breakthrough life-saving research, to ensure we can continue to save lives. The relay is taking place on Sunday 27th May in Edinburgh (for more information visit the Edinburgh Marathon website).  Join in by entering your own relay team of four people to run alongside him.
 
You can run with your family, friends, colleagues or neighbours — anyone can get involved! The relay is 26 miles long and made up of 4 legs – two legs are over 10k and two legs are under 10k - so your team can be made up of people of all fitness levels. 

In 2010 and 2011 Mike ran the Great North Run and Great Scottish Run half marathons, and last year he was joined by his running team ‘Mike’s Marvels’, a team made up of former patients, their relatives and friends of all ages, who took on the challenge to run and together raised over £21,000.

This was a fantastic result, and through an incredible amount of sponsorship Mike has managed to raise over £35,000 so far.  This year he is aiming to hit the £50,000 mark to make a real difference to everyone affected by breast cancer, and that means raising another £15,000 in 2012.  But he can’t do it without your support.

Mike says ‘As a breast cancer surgeon I am well aware of the devastating impact of the disease on thousands of women across Scotland, which is why funding Breakthrough’s work is essential.

“By entering a relay team for the Edinburgh Marathon you can join ‘Mike’s Marvels’ and help continue funding Scotland’s only dedicated breast cancer research unit. I would urge anyone who is interested in joining me on this challenge to sign up and help raise vital funds for our life-saving work.’
