Working with Government and politicians
Breakthrough works hard to ensure elected representatives, opinion formers and policy makers in the UK hear the voice of people affected by breast cancer on issues of importance. We achieve this through a variety of ways.
All Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer
Breakthrough supports the work of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Breast Cancer – a cross-party group of MPs and Peers who help keep breast cancer high on the political agenda.
Keeping parliamentarians informed
We brief MPs and Peers on Breakthrough's campaigns and breast cancer related issues. Our parliamentary briefings ensure that parliamentarians are kept up to date with developments, current issues and our campaigns.
Giving expert evidence
A key route of influence for Breakthrough is through parliamentary and assembly committees. Breakthrough submits evidence to these committees, enabling the members to get a clear insight into the experience of people affected by breast cancer.
Party conferences
Every year Breakthrough attends the conferences of the three main political parties to help ensure breast cancer is kept high on the political agenda. In 2008, we are part of the Health Hotel, a collaboration of 35 health related organisations aiming to keep health high on the political agenda.
