How we develop our views & campaigns

Breakthrough’s campaigning and influencing work is about change to improve the care and treatment of people affected by breast cancer.

How does Breakthrough identify which issues to prioritise?

Breakthrough keeps in touch with a wide range of stakeholders and supporters including Breakthrough's Campaigns & Advocacy Network members, health care professionals, scientists, patients and other key groups to ensure we remain in touch with the views, priorities and experiences of people affected by breast cancer. Breakthrough combines this vital feedback with known facts about breast cancer services, treatments and research to identify the gaps and develop informed campaigns that will bring maximum benefit.

Breakthrough’s reputation is built upon the understanding (and trust) that when we say things we have combined a wide range of evidence with the views of people affected by breast cancer to call for improvements where they matter most. The respect that exists for our campaigning and influencing work – whether from politicians, the media, our own stakeholders, Government or NHS officials – is a key reason why Breakthrough is seen as successful campaigning organisation.
