Breast Care Nurses Workshop 2008

This Workshop is now fully booked.

On Wednesday 4 June 2008 Breakthrough Breast Cancer will be holding its fourth National Breast Care Nurses Workshop. This is a free event for breast care nurses working in the UK and will be held at the Hesperia London Victoria Hotel.

This year the workshop will concentrate on areas of nursing that breast care nurses have described as particularly difficult or controversial. From exploring how to communicate a poor prognosis to debating whether the NHS should fund complementary therapies, the programme has been designed to confront challenges and provoke discussion.

Workshop contents

  • Poor prognosis: advice on discussing prognosis with women with a poor outlook.

  • Diet, nutrition and breast cancer: what can we tell patients?

  • Improving care on the ward: the challenges outside the breast unit.

  • The Cancer Reform Strategy: how can nurses help to support its implementation?

  • Should the NHS fund complementary therapies for cancer patients? A debate.

Financial assistance

Limited discretionary bursaries are available for individuals that wish to attend the workshop but might be deterred by the costs.
