Baroness Morgan of Drefelin

Baroness Morgan
At Breakthrough's 5th birthday party I proudly announced that we had achieved the founding aim of raising £15 million to establish the Breakthrough Research Centre. I am delighted to continue my contribution as a Founding Fellow - albeit in a new, different way.

Baroness Morgan of Drefelin
Delyth was appointed as Breakthrough's first Chief Executive in 1995 - when the charity had just six members of staff. At that time, everyone had to take turns answering the phones and making tea.

Through Delyth's outstanding leadership, she stepped down in 2005 from the UK's leading breast cancer charity with over 100 staff members, more than 100 scientists working at the Breakthrough Research Centre, and having merged with the UK's leading advocacy charity and launched the UK's largest and most comprehensive study into the causes of breast cancer.

Delyth left Breakthrough to take up her position as a member of the House of Lords, where she continues to keep breast cancer high on the political agenda.
