A major achievement of CAN was the first Cardiff Fly-In, held in July 2004. Modelled on the highly successful Westminster Fly-In, the event brought together CAN members from Wales, cancer support groups, cancer information charities, breast care nurses and representatives from Community Health Councils and Trade Unions to discuss the issues that affect patients in Wales.

The meeting proved a highly effective start to expanding CAN’s influence throughout the UK. Surinder attended the Westminster Fly-In for the first time in October. She used her personal experience of breast cancer to campaign with others for improvements to breast cancer services, treatment, research and prevention.
