Will I get paid as a volunteer?

As with all our volunteers, you will not receive payment for your involvement with Breakthrough.

How much time do I need to commit as a volunteer?

There is no minimum time requirement; we value whatever time you can offer us. The circumstances of each project will vary and your availability will determine the timing and extent of your support.

How will you keep in contact with me?

You will receive a periodic email newsletter with updates on information about Breakthrough's general activity.

Can I join the Talent Pool of volunteers if I don't currently have the time to volunteer?

Yes. We may have projects later in the year that you could support when you are able to volunteer.

Do I need to complete an application form to become a Talent Pool volunteer?

Yes, there is a brief registration form to complete which will help us understand your background. You can also attach a current CV or a brief resume as this will help to showcase your skills and experience. We may also ask you to provide details of a professional and/or personal referee.

Do you reimburse expenses for Talent Pool volunteers?

We will reimburse you for reasonable travel and lunch expenses. If you need to travel to our office we can arrange train tickets and an overnight stay for you if required.

Do I have to volunteer at Breakthrough's head office for the Talent Pool scheme?

Not always. Very often, support can be provided remotely, enabling you to volunteer from home or work. There may be times when you would need to come to our office in central London, but it would be at your convenience and we would make the necessary travel arrangements.

Can I suggest projects I can help you with?

Absolutely. All ideas and suggestions are most welcome.

What happens if there are no projects I can contribute to?

We will, with your permission, keep your details on the Talent Pool volunteer database and contact you when the need for your skills and involvement arises.
