Welcome to our Campaigns Handbook

We’re really pleased you’ve decided to take the plunge and start your own campaign. You’re joining a committed community of individuals and organisations who want to make a difference to breast cancer services, treatment and research by campaigning for improvements.
Since Breakthrough CAN was created in 2003, Breakthrough CAN members have been an important part of the way we campaign at Breakthrough.
You help to ensure that Breakthrough’s campaigning and influencing work is informed by the concerns, priorities and personal experiences of people affected by breast cancer. You support our national campaigns, which tend to have high public profiles and may involve public figures and politicians at Government level.
You are also the driving force behind local breast cancer campaigns taking action on issues that are important in your local areas and to your local community. You have met with healthcare professionals and approached your local elected representatives. You have engaged with your local authorities, local NHS and local Cancer Networks to promote your campaigns. You have met with key people to highlight your campaigns and raise awareness about breast cancer issues in your local community.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or already a seasoned campaigner, we hope this Handbook helps you grow your campaigns even more.
