New to campaigning and not sure where to get started? Come to the Westminster Fly-In

Have you recently joined Breakthrough CAN but you’re not sure how to get involved? Are you interested in campaigning but not sure where to start? Then the Westminster Fly-In is a great starting point as it will provide you with all the support and advice you need to begin campaigning, as well as being a great opportunity to meet other Breakthrough CAN members.

The Westminster Fly-In is Breakthrough’s flagship training and lobbying event that takes place in London on 19 – 21 October 2008 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You will have the chance to meet your MP and discuss important issues for people affected by breast cancer. This might sound daunting but Breakthrough will provide all the support you need to get started and build a great relationship with your MP.

There will be a welcome session for CAN members who haven’t been to the Fly-In before to introduce the event and you can apply to be paired up with a more experience CAN member or ‘buddy’ to give you advice and support. Breakthrough also provides training on an introduction to campaigning, including how to find the issue that’s right for you as well as all the training and support you’ll need to meet your MP and establish a great relationship.

Book your place

Places at this year’s Fly-In cost £35, or £70 if you require accommodation.  The cost includes food and refreshments on both days. If you’d like to book your place today you can download the booking form (62 kb) [pdf] and send it in, or you can book over the phone and pay by debit or credit card by calling Murray Worthy, Campaigns & Advocacy Assistant, on 020 7280 4279.

Only members of Breakthrough CAN can attend the Westminster Fly-In, however if you’d like to start campaigning for improvements in breast cancer services, treatments and research and aren’t a member you can sign up to join CAN online for free.
