What CAN members do
It's really up to you! Once you've joined Breakthrough CAN you can be involved as much or as often as you like.
It was more productive than I could have imagined. He even gave me tips to make campaigning more effective. I felt well prepared and confident.

- Campaign locally on issues that matter most to you with support from Breakthrough CAN staff.
- Get involved in campaigns that Breakthrough is already running.
- Shape Breakthrough's policy positions and campaigning priorities by taking part in discussion group meetings or workshops that will focus on particular issues, such as waiting times for diagnosis or treatment, filling questionnaires or responding to telephone interviews.
- If you haven't got much time on your hands you can still contribute by supporting Breakthrough's campaigns through simple actions like writing a letter to your local paper or MP.
Every contribution, regardless of its nature, is important and highly valued.
How do members campaign?
In a variety of ways - it is up to you how you get involved. You may want to:
- Write to your local MP or key Government Ministers to raise their awareness about a particular issue.
- Meet with the Chief Executive or other senior managers of your local hospital to talk about how you would like to see breast cancer services improved.
- Get the media involved to publicise campaigns. This could involve writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper or speaking on your local radio station or local television.
You're not on your own - Breakthrough CAN staff and other CAN members are here to offer support and guidance however you might need it.
