Marks & Spencer

Marks & Spencer is our largest corporate partner and has raised a staggering £9 million since 2001.  The money now raised by M&S will be used to fund the on-going analysis costs of the Breakthrough Generations Study.  Our relationship with Marks & Spencer brings a wide range of mutual benefits around the following campaigns:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

M&S WindowEvery October the iconic
‘Your M&S’ logo turns pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In 2007 there were over 80 specially designed Pink Products available in store which carried at least a 10% donation to Breakthrough.

M&S employees across the UK participate in fundraising and have raised a remarkable £1million through their own personal fundraising! Also during October, M&S spreads TLC breast health messages to its employees and customers.

Join the PinkParty

M&S encourages its customers to ‘Join the PinkParty’ during Breast Cancer Awareness month each October and fundraise for Breakthrough, offering a fantastic prize for the top fundraiser!

Plan A

M&S recently launched Plan A - an ambitious, five year, 100-point ‘eco plan’ that aims to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing business and our world. We are incredibly proud to be part of Plan A and will continue to ensure our partnership stays in tune with its goals and particularly to champion the health concerns of M&S staff and customers.

Awards and Achievements

M&S and Breakthrough fought off stiff competition to take home the prestigious Business in the Community Cause Related Business award in 2006.

The partnership also received High Commendation for Corporate Partnerships at the 2006 Third Sector Excellence Awards and was recently awarded a second Big Tick for achievements in 2007. The partnership is also showcased as a best practice example of ‘real partnership’ in Valerie Morton’s ‘Corporate Fundraising’ third edition.
