Blooming marvellous

The crocus forms part of Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s logo as it has real symbolism for the charity. Planted before winter, it survives a cold and bleak season and is one of the first flowers to blossom in spring, offering those affected by breast cancer a message of hope that the disease can be beaten.
With this in mind, Taylor’s Bulbs produced special packs of purple crocus bulbs to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Available at garden centres nationwide, the bulbs retail at £2.49 and carry a 60p donation to Breakthrough.

Breakthrough Group Member Liz Sullivan (second left) receives a cheque from Adam Taylor of Taylors Bulbs and Nick Chutter and Gina Santos of Summerhill Nurseries, which sold the most purple crocus bulbs in 2008.
