Donating from America

We have recently established a fund called ‘American Friends of Breakthrough Breast Cancer’, which makes it easier for American supporters to donate to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. An organisation called CAFAmerica handles the administration of the fund, saving us valuable time and money.

By donating through the fund, donations of any size are tax deductible. This applies to US taxpayers living both in the UK and the US. Donors can contribute to American Friends of Breakthrough Breast Cancer with various assets including cash, stocks, bonds and grants from private foundations.

What you will receive

As an American Friend of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, you will receive periodic updates about our internationally renowned breast cancer research, education and campaigning work, acknowledgement in our supporter publications and information about future Breakthrough Breast Cancer events in the US.

Breakthrough also holds guaranteed places for the New York, Chicago and Boston marathons.

Your contribution

By making a contribution to this fund, you will be supporting the work of world class scientists such as Professor Mitch Dowsett, who leads the Molecular Endocrinology team at the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Research Centre in London. Professor Dowsett has been invited to give the WL McGuire Memorial Lecture at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium – the largest annual conference dedicated to breast cancer – in December 2007. He is only the third scientist from the UK to be asked to give this lecture and this pays tribute to the groundbreaking work that he and his team do at the centre.

Breakthrough Generations Study

Your support will also help us to fund the Breakthrough Generations Study, which will include over 100,000 women in the UK and span 40 years. While the study will be based in the UK, it will have a significant global impact by providing a comprehensive resource for international scientists to utilise in the future. We believe that the Breakthrough Generations Study could uncover many of the complex causes of this disease and offers real hope for women around the world.
