Government Funding
One of Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s aims is to improve breast cancer awareness among women who are at greatest risk of developing the disease.
The Department of Health runs a grant-making programme called Section 64 which provides support for health education and influencing work.
Breakthrough has received three grants from the Section 64 programme, the most recent being a commitment of £80,000 towards helping us to ensure that women over 50 know how to check for the symptoms of breast cancer and present them to their GP early.
Through publications and outreach programmes, we hope to improve breast awareness, which will lead to earlier diagnosis of breast cancer and therefore an increased chance of successful treatment.
