Fundraising at school, college or university
Breakthrough believes that people of all ages can make a difference. In fact, we really need young people like you to help us raise vital funds. So, if you are at school, college or university, you can help.

Thank you to the following Universities for their support this year: Bristol Union, Central Lancashire, Cranfield Student’s Association, Durham, Durham DUCK, Greenwich, Kent, King’s College, Luton, Manchester, the Open University, Nottingham, Surrey, UCL and Queen Mary’s – your support is invaluable to Breakthrough and collectively you have raised a whopping £23,862.31!

At university?
Whether you are fundraising as a student at university or as part of a RAG society, there are loads of ways in which you can support Breakthrough. So have a look at some of our great ideas for putting the fun into fundraising!Breakthrough’s very first Mega Raid happened earlier this year in February. The capital city with its bright lights and bustling streets provided the perfect backdrop to the day. With over 25 collectors at 4 mainline underground and rail stations across London, the morning rush prompted a flurry of excitement when the Breakthrough collectors were dressed up as superheroes or in pink!
All in all, a great day was had by all the collectors and I’m sure the commuters enjoyed it too! A brilliant £2,262.42 was raised which could buy enough specialist chemicals and essential equipment to enable one scientist to carry out their research for two months at the Breakthrough Toby Robins Breast Cancer Research Centre.
If your RAG would like to fundraise for Breakthrough or you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kate on 0207 025 2473 or at fundraise@breakthrough.org.uk.
At school or college?
Have a look through some of our fun ideas and ask a teacher or adult to help.- Why not hold a sponsored event, from a sponsored silence or spell-a-thon, to something daft like a sponsored disco dance!
- Or how about showing off your skills at a fashion or talent show?
- You could arrange a non-uniform day and encourage all the pupils and teachers to dress in their finest frocks and suits!
- Or hold a competition, from a board games championship to a tug of war, or even a balloon race.
- And if all this sounds too exhausting, then how about a simple pink cake sale?
