Banquet success stories
Sam Lilley raised an amazing £1,600
“A Banquet was the ideal way for us to fundraise for Breakthrough as it didn't take much time to organise and we are a very social group. We titled our day BBQ Banquet for Breakthrough and asked people to make a donation for a burger or sausage and the drinks were flowing! We had a glorious sunny summer afternoon and followed the BBQ with a very successful charity auction with fierce bidding for the star lot.” Zoe Image raised a fabulous total of £855
“Three years ago my friend Helen Cowie and I were talking about holding a Banquet as we thought a social occasion would be a fun way to fundraise. We did the cooking together and held it in Helen's garden whilst the sun shone and had a suggested donation of £10, but many people gave more.Helen's son, Julian, is a professional musician and so a real special feature of our banquet was a concert as well as the lunch party! We have done two banquets now and hope to do another this summer.”
Marie Smith held a Mexican Banquet
I love Banquet for Breakthrough as you can make them entirely your own and raise a lot of money in a fun, social way where everyone is happy to be donating.I held a Mexican themed Banquet, with delicious Mexican food and the opportunity for friends and family to wear sombreros or pink clothes if not! I held a raffle, pay to enter games like pub quizzes and charades and raised a lot of money, which I counted on the night to thank everyone. To raise more, if your total's an odd number, ask guests to throw more in to round it up!
