If you like the simple life how about one of the following?

  • Afternoon tea - with plenty of cakes for sale. You could try this at work and make it part of everyone’s tea break for a day.

  • Traditional Sunday lunch

  • Pot luck lunch - ask everyone to bring a mystery dish of their choice along.

  • Fondue night

  • Wimbledon themed afternoon - get together to watch a match with strawberries and cream. You could always hold a sweepstake to raise extra funds on how far the British players will go this year.

  • Dinner party

  • Picnic in the park with friends - follow it up with rounders or football matches.

  • BBQ with friends

For more challenging ideas take a look at these suggestions

  • Pre match breakfast - If you are part of a sports team, why not try this and raise extra funds by holding a sweepstake on the score with a prize for the winner and the takings towards your fundraising.

  • Holiday themed night - Pretend you are in sunnier climes! Serve tapas or have a BBQ and get everyone dressed up in their beach wear.

  • Cook it together once everyone arrives - A great get together for families with lots of children, give everyone a pizza base and have a table full of toppings for people to make their own or indulge a sweet tooth and make your own ice cream sundaes.

  • Dinner or buffet with a people auction - each guest pledges a specific task or favour in return for a donation to Breakthrough.

  • Curry night - make your own or order a take away. Follow it up with a Bollywood dancing competition and everyone can donate to make the friend of their choice dance!
